Awareness campaign on cleanliness

Ramakrishna Mission carried out daily awareness campaign in connection with its Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan for 15 days in various parts of the city.

Members of about 10 groups visited more than 1,000 shops and households to create awareness on segregation of waste at the source.

The members of the Karangalpady Auto Drivers' Association carried out the awareness campaign from Bunts' Hostel Circle to Kadri. The members of Team Friends Forever, under guidance of Shubhoday Alva, carried out the campaign on the surroundings of Circuit House in two teams. The members of Team Nivedita Balaga visited several households in the surroundings of Bolara Marigudi and urged the households to keep their surroundings clean. They not only distributed handbills but also removed the plastic waste from the area.

The members of Vivekananda Youth Forum visited several shops from Koti Chennayya Circle to Mangaladevi road and urged the shop owners to keep their surroundings clean by distributing awareness handbills. The members of Sri Krishanbhavan Auto Drivers' Association carried out the campaign on KS Rao Road.

The students of GFGC, Car Street, under guidance of Prof Sheshappa Amin, met several shop owners in the Central Market area and spoke to them about garbage segregation. They urged the shop owners to keep dustbins in front of their shops. They also urged the general public to use them.

The students of Sahaya Team of St Aloysius College carried out the campaign from Clock Tower Circle to State Bank by meeting street vendors and shops and distributed awareness handbills. The members of Sri Sharada Mahila Vrinda visited nearly 100 shops and households, distributing handbills on cleanliness and spoke to the citizens about vermicompost using kitchen waste.

The members of Bhagini Samaja carried out the campaign from Morgan's Gate to Mphassis. The members of Subrahmanya Sabha Sadana carried out the campaign from City Hospital to Kadri temple.
