<p>A real-estate businessman was brutally attacked and stabbed to death in his office near Vidyapeetha Circle on Saturday afternoon. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The dead has been identified as Shankar, 46, a resident of Hosakere Halli. The incident happened at about 12:30 pm when Shankar was in his office as usual. Three men, wearing helmets, barged into the office and assaulted Shankar. <br /><br />“One of them pulled out a knife and stabbed Shankar twice — once in the neck and stomach,” said Shankar's office assistant who does not wish to be named. <br />“The gang fled after Shankar collapsed in a pool of blood.” The assistant is the prime eyewitness in the case, police said.<br /><br />Immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, Shankar was declared brought dead. <br /><br />Narasimhamurthy, a relative of the victim, expressed disbelief at the crime. “Shankar was a very soft person. He never had rivalry with anyone that I know of,” he told Deccan Herald. <br /><br />However, the office assistant told police that the three men had argued with Shankar, claiming that he had crossed certain limits, before they stabbed him. <br />The assistant has been employed at the office for only two weeks, the police said, adding that he does not know anything of Shankar's dealings.<br /><br /> “This looks like a cold-blooded murder done because of an old issue or a business rivalry,” Narasimhamurthy said. <br /><br />A native of Dandinahalli village of Nagamangala, Shankar was married to Bhagyamma. The couple have a five-year-old daughter Sinchana. <br /><br />A qualified diploma holder in civil engineering, Shankar’s occupation involved drawing-up plans for new houses. He had recently opened his office, Sinchana Enterprises, on Kathriguppe Main Road. <br /><br />Hanumanthanagar police have registered a case and are investigating. H S Revanna, DCP (South) said that both the scene of the crime and the eyewitness account suggests that the murder was an act of revenge.<br /></p>
