A shout out to the freshers

Prathibhimba

RV Institute of Management celebrated Prathibhimba, its freshers’ day, at the college recently. The day was full of activities organised by the senior students to welcome the fresh batch of the college.

The programme was inaugurated by Shanti Basavaraju, who is an alumnus from the 2001-03 batch of the college. Vijay Paduguri, a corporate trainer and consultant, who’s an alumnus of the 2007-09 batch, was also present. He motivated the students with his words of wisdom.

The day’s activities included dances, songs, skits, a fashion show, and a ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ hunt. Mubarak Ali, a second-year MBA student and the emcee of the programme, comments, “The programme was split into two parts. The morning was formal and then the informal part followed. We had a variety of programmes that varied from a melody of songs to dance shows. We tried to host the programme like a movie award ceremony — yet maintaining our college decorum, which we abide by strictly.”

Suhas A, a first-year MBA student who was titled Mr Fresher, adds, “It was a special experience to be titled Mr Fresher at the event. The juniors weren’t informed about what was going to happen on that particular day. It was very exciting, especially since the event was much like a mini-Oscar or any other popular award night.” He adds, “One of the most exciting moments I’ve ever had was when the winners were announced — there was confetti falling from above the stage; that was a special moment.”

Bachala Saranya, who was titled Ms Fresher, says, “The talks that were part of the day’s celebration were very inspiring. It was nice to hear from the alumni. They shared their experiences and talked to us about the various venues we could explore.” She adds, “Of the many programmes of the whole day, I loved the ‘Gangnam style’ dance. And the ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ hunt — it included several rounds, which were challenging and full of fun.”

The freshers day at RVIM also witnessed a ‘Red Ribbon Awareness Drive’ by the students, in connection with World AIDS Day. All the students pinned up red ribbons, expressing their unity in battling the disease and to create awareness among all the students.
