<p>Bengaluru: The Cubbon Park police have registered a case against a bar and restaurant in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/karnataka/bengaluru">Bengaluru</a> co-owned and promoted by senior Indian cricketer <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/virat-kohli">Virat Kohli</a> for alleged smoking zone violations, police officials said. </p><p>Following a permission from a local court, the police registered the FIR on May 31 under Sections 4 (prohibition of smoking in a public place) and 21 (punishment for smoking in certain places) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) against One8 Commune near Kasturba Road, MG Road, in Central Bengaluru. </p><p>This follows the special drive by the Bengaluru police, which kicked off on May 29, aimed at preventing smoking-related violations. </p><p>According to the FIR, there was no specific designated zone for smoking in the pub, which was a clear violation. Cops verified this during the drive. The FIR was registered against the manager and staff of the pub. </p><p>This is not the first time the pub affiliated with Kohli was in the news. </p><p>In December 2024, the BBMP had served a second letter to the manager of One8 Commune for allegedly lacking fire safety approval. In July 2024, the Bengaluru City Police registered a case against the manager of One8 Commune for operating beyond permissible hours, as the pub had allegedly served customers until 1.30 am, which, at the time, was past the allowable time limit of 1 am.</p>
