Even as the BBMP is struggling to start the garbage processing units as was announced a year ago, the protests and the failure of the garbage contractors has only worsened the situation.

Sources in the BBMP said that dumping of waste had stopped at Terrafirma on Doddaballapura Road and Bingipura for a few days owing to the protests by the residents. People were aggrieved that the proposed processing units are nowhere in the sight whereas unscientific dumping has left the area reeking.

The BBMP officials have agreed that there were protests at Bingipura but they refuted the statement that there was any discord at Terrafirma.

Due to the garbage crisis, Shivajinagar, Avenue Road, Ulsoor, Banashankari Sarakki, JP Nagar, Jaraganahalli, Ittamadu, Kathriguppe, Vidyapeetha, Kanakapura Road, KR Road, Siddaiah Road, Wilson Garden are among the areas which are badly hit by the garbage problem.
