<p> The high court imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on a petitioner for abusing the process of the court and that of PIL’s jurisdiction.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari imposed the cost after dismissing a petition filed by Dr Savio Pereira who<br />works at St John’s Medical College.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The petitioner had moved the court challenging the practising of two retired professionals turned advocates before the Competition Commission of India (CCI).</p>.<p class="bodytext">The petitioner had contended that one person was an ex-chairman while another was an ex-member of the CCI and both were practising before the same forum, which is against the law.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The court stated that the petitioner had not made the persons concerned as parties in the petition.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The bench also stated that the petitioner should have approached another forum with his concerns before approaching the high court.</p>
