<p>A tailor and his mother allegedly hanged themselves to death at their house in Gayatrinagar in Subramanyanagar police limits.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Police suspect heavy debts drove Prashanth, 32, and Sindhu, 60, both residents of Gayatrinagar fifth cross near Vivekananda Law College, to end their lives.<br /><br />In the death note, Prashanth said: “I have been under pressure for the past few months due to heavy debts. We have decided to end our lives to put an end to this. No one is responsible for our deaths.”<br /><br />According to neighbours, Sindhu and her family hailed from Karwar.<br /><br />Sindhu’s husband had died in 1994 due to a heart attack. Sindhu had a daughter, Preethi - married to Hemanth, a private firm employee for eight months. Prashanth was not married and was running a tailoring shop in Malleswaram. They were staying on the second floor of a five-storey building for rent for the past eight years. <br /><br />Some of the neighbours said they spotted Sindhu and Prashanth on December 31. It is said the incident might have taken place on Monday. Preethi called her mother and brother several times on their cellphones on Monday, but the phones were switched off. She came to meet them, along with her husband, on Tuesday evening.<br /><br />The door was locked from inside. She grew suspicious and called up the house owner, who, in turn, informed the police.<br /><br />Loans<br />Police rushed to the spot, broke open the door and found the bodies hanging from a ceiling fan.<br /><br />Prashanth had taken loans from various sources to bear several expenses, including those of his sister’s wedding. The bodies were shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital for post mortem.<br /></p>
