After missing several deadlines, the countdown has begun for relocation
of Tipu’s armoury. The relocation work begins on March 6.

The testing process begins at 10 am on Monday. On the first day, the structure will be moved 40 to 60 feet. It requires at least two days to totally relocate it to another site which is 100 metres away from the original site. Preliminary works are still pending and if they are not completed at the scheduled time, the shifting work may be postponed for another day.

The armoury will be relocated using unified jacking system. Jacks, iron poles and other tools are inserted underneath the structure to lift and roll it to another site. Hydraulic cranes and other advanced equipment will also be used.

Wolfe House Movers of the US and TSL Company of India have taken up the work at a cost of Rs 13.68 crore, to shift the structure weighing 900 metric tonnes.
