<p> A 30-year-old traffic police constable was knocked to death by a speeding truck as he was crossing the NICE Road underpass close to the Deve Gowda junction.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Constable Ravishankar S A was a resident of Kommaghatta, who was attached to the Byatarayanapura traffic police station.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The accident happened on Saturday afternoon as Ravishankar and home guard Venkoba Rao monitored traffic at the Deve Gowda junction from the morning.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A passerby noticed the truck, heading for Somanahalli, knocking the constable down and speeding away, and alerted Rao, who rushed Ravishankar to hospital. But the constable was declared brought dead.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Eyewitnesses to the accident reported the speeding truck crushing Ravishankar, but the police are yet to identify the vehicle.</p>.<p class="bodytext">They are checking CCTV footage from nearby locations as no camera had been installed at the accident spot.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to Rao, around 1 pm, Ravishankar was crossing the road to relieve himself when the speeding truck knocked him down. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Ravishankar's relative Chikkanna said the family was looking for a bride for him. He had joined the force in 2012 and was preparing for the UPSC examination in the course of his six-year service.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Byatarayanapura traffic police have filed a case and have formed three teams to track down the truck driver.</p>
