CCTV cameras to be installed at 66 locations: SP

The Police Department has proposed to instal CCTV cameras at 66 sensitive areas in Chikkamagaluru district, said Superintendent of Police Harish Pande.

He said the CCTV cameras will be installed on 28 locations within a month. Their installation will help in checking the crimes. Special CCTV cameras will be installed on six locations, which will also help to get clear images of the number plates of vehicles. The traffic cones in several parts of Chikkamagaluru town have been damaged. New traffic cones have been procured at a cost of Rs 8 lakh. It will be installed on major junctions and curves.

Ganja menace

There are suspicions about the sale of ganja by a few in the city. A team of police officers have been constituted to check the supply of ganja.

Special teams have also been constituted to check theft and illegal transportation of cattle in the district. As many as nine cows that were transported illegally were seized recently.

Arrested

The SP said that five people have been arrested in connection with the assault on two youth, at Vijayapura. Among the arrested, two are minors, who have been sent to Bala Mandira.
