<p>Sagar/DHNS: Progressive farmer couple Prakash Rao Manchale and his wife Shanta, better known as custodians of Ayurvedic plants from Manchale village under Ullur Gram Panchayat of Sagar taluk in Shivamogga district, have been specially invited by the AYUSH Department to participate in the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi on August 15.</p><p>In their two-acre of land in Manchale village, they have grown various herbs including Madhunashini, known to control diabetes, black pepper, honeysuckle, turmeric, cinnamon, and lemon through drip irrigation, and have turned model farmers for others.</p><p>Rao’s progressive multifaceted agriculture has been recognised at the state, national and international levels, and his Ayurvedic agriculture has been presented as a research paper by students.</p><p>He has also received the national award for best farmer in the past.</p><p>Recognising his achievements, the AYUSH Department has joined hands with him in growing herbal plants.</p><p>Recognising their efforts, Manchale couple have been invited for Independence Day celebrations.<br>Sharing his happiness with <em>DH</em>, Prakash Rao Manchale said “I am happy that the AYUSH Department has recognised my interest and given me the opportunity to participate in the Independence Day<br>celebrations at Delhi. I thank the department and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving me the opportunity.”</p><p>His wife Shanta too is elated. “I am happy that the Government of India has recognised his efforts to save and grow ayurvedic plants in the Western Ghats region. With him, I have also got the opportunity to<br>participate in the Independence Day celebrations at New Delhi.”</p>
