The ESI Corporation has given in-principle approval for setting up 11 new ESI dispensaries in Karnataka, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar informed Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Mudhol, Gauribidanur, Chikkaballapur, Vasantanarasapur (on the outskirts of Tumakuru), Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada, Chincholi, Arasikere, Ranibennur, Kolar, Narsapura and Sandur, Kanakapura, the minister said in a written answer.

Replying to a question by K C Ramamurthy (Congress), the minister said the ESI Corporation has also given in-principle approval for setting up a 200-bed ESI hospital at Bommasandra in Bengaluru and 100-bed ESI hospital at Doddaballapur.

The ESIC had requested the state government to give non-conditional consent for running the ESI hospital at Bommasandra, he said.

The construction work for the 100-bed ESI hospital, Doddaballapur, has been assigned to UPRNNL (Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam) and the construction work had started, he said.
