<p>Travellers zipping on the Mysore-Bangalore state highway will be soon able to crunch on tasty freshwater and sea fish at affordable rates, thanks to an initiative of the Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC).<br /><br /></p>.<p>After tasting success with the opening of Mathsyadarshini Restaurant at Cubbon Park in Bangalore, KFDC is opening two more such fish outlets in Mysore - one on the outskirts of city at Siddalingapura and the other at Gokulam.<br /><br />During the first phase of the project, KFDC is spending Rs 30 lakh for the fish outlet at Siddalingapura and Rs 20 lakh for the centre at Gokulam. Both are set to be opened by the end of February.<br /><br />Initially, the Siddalingapura centre would have only a kiosk to cater to customers, while the Gokulam centre would be opened at an existing building. <br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald, KFDC managing director V K Shetty said that there is further scope for setting-up an aquarium centre at Siddalingapura as it is spread on an area of half-an-acre in the second phase of the project. As there are five ponds in the area, it would be used to rear fish, which would be later sold to customers.<br /><br />Even though the Mysore-Bangalore road is dotted with a large number of dhabas and a couple of restaurants dishing out sea fare, Shetty believes that fish would be available at a cheaper rate in their outlet. “We are not just focussing on making profits. The idea is to provide fish, which is a protein rich food and healthy for all,” he added.<br /></p>
