Four arrested for illegal cattle transportation

The police arrested four persons, who were involved in illegal transportation of cattle from Sullia Padavu to Kerala, at Padadka Junction in Ishwaramangala on Monday.

According to SP B R Ravikanthe Gowda, the arrested are Kunhanna (40) of Cherkala, Abdul Khader (53) of Bellur in Kasargod, Udaykumar (63) of Nerkaje in Kasargod and Harish Kumar (35) of Badiadka in Kasargod.

The suspects had stolen the cattle and were transporting them in a pick-up vehicle in an inhuman condition. All the arrested have been remanded in judicial custody, the police said.

Six held for assault

Bantwal Police arrested six persons involved in the assault of one Chethan, at Bantwal on June 11.

The arrested are Kiran (24) and Keerthan (22) from Panemangaluru, Yogesh K (22), Lokesh (25), Mohan Poojary (22) and Vidyadhar Poojary (22) from Golthamajalu in Bantwal taluk.

Four held for gambling

The DCIB sleuths raided and arrested four persons involved in gambling, at Padpu in Laila of Belthangady in the wee hours of Monday.

According to SP Ravikanthe Gowda, the arrested are Srinivas, Nikhith, Arif and Peter. Three persons including Dawood fled the spot. The police have seized Rs 2,08,000 cash, three two-wheelers, 1 Qualis car, and four mobile phones. The value of the seized property is Rs 7,36,200.

Drug peddlers held

The Bellare police arrested three persons allegedly involved in the sale of ganja, at Kalanja in Sullia on Sunday.

The arrested are Sadik alias Akbar (35) of Belur taluk, Mohammed Iqbal (25) of Karikkala in Sullia, Mohammed Nausad alias Nausu of Kalanja in Sullia.

The police have seized 950-gram ganja and Rs 2,600 in cash. A case has been registered.
