<p>Bengaluru: The Congress government faced flak on Monday over delays in payment of Gruha Lakshmi and Anna Bhagya money to beneficiaries. </p>.<p>Under Gruha Lakshmi, women beneficiaries get Rs 2,000 every month. Under Anna Bhagya, BPL members of a household get Rs 170 per month in lieu of the additional 5 kg of rice. These are the biggest of the five flagship ‘guarantee’ schemes. </p>.<p class="bodytext">“Where has Rs 52,009 crore earmarked in the budget for the guarantee schemes gone? Who has eaten this money? The government must answer,” Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy said, responding to reports that beneficiaries have not received payments for months together. </p>.K N Rajanna slams Shivakumar, asks him not to misuse top brass' name.<p class="bodytext">“Why aren’t the guarantee schemes reaching beneficiaries on time?” Narayanaswamy said, adding that Congress itself is divided on whether or not the schemes must continue. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Asked about the delay, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said: “There’s no question of stopping any of these schemes. If payment is delayed, it’ll be done at the earliest.” He also said he was not aware about beneficiaries not receiving payments for a couple of months. “If not paid, we’ll ensure it’s paid,” he said. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar admitted that Gruha Lakshmi money had not been paid for three months. He also said Anna Bhagya payment had been delayed. “It’ll be released soon. We will walk our talk,” he said. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Food & Civil Supplies Minister K H Muniyappa told reporters that payment under Anna Bhagya is made once every two months.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“There’s no delay of 4-5 months. We’ve been releasing two months of payments. We’re making arrangements to make monthly payments,” he said. </p>
