<p>As rains continue to lash Malnad region, the district administration declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Thirthahalli taluk and Hosanagar taluks in the district on Thursday.</p><p>As of 8 am on Thursday, Varahi project area of Chakra in Hosanagar taluk recorded 19.5cm, followed by 14.6 cm in Yadur and 14 cm in Mastikatte.</p><p>Due to the heavy rains, the inflow to major reservoirs in the district has increased. The inflow into Linganamakki reservoir in Sagar taluk rose to 55,337 cusecs against the maximum level of 1819 feet on Thursday. The current water level is 1781.55 ft. Last year, the water level in the dam stood at 1745.60 ft during the same period. The inflow to Tunga reservoir in Gajanur has increased to 44,158 cusecs. The same amount of water is being released from Tunga reservoir. The Tunga and Anjanapura reservoirs in Shikaripur taluk are in full spate. Thus, Tunga, which flows in the heart of Shivamogga, is inundated.</p><p>The inflow into Bhadra reservoir is 22,407 cusecs, and the water level has increased to 157.1 feet. The maximum water level of the reservoir is 186 feet. Last year, water level in Bhadra reservoir had touched 120 ft of water during the same period. Intermittent rains also lashed Davangere and Harihar town.</p>
