The shopkeeper enters the item code, and the machine computes the price automatically. <br /><br />Hopcoms Managing Director S K Sreekanth said, “The prices will be updated over 3G networks everyday at 7:30 am. After that the system will be locked, and the prices cannot be changed until next morning.” <br /><br />He said that the system of instant billing would be most useful when there is a heavy rush.<br /><br />160 other outlets<br /><br />Apart from the 100 outlets already using the technology, another 160 outlets are expected to have the same facility in the next six months. <br /><br />The entire project has cost the Hopcoms an estimated Rs 40 lakh, which was provided under the Rashtriya Kisan Vikas Yojana. <br /><br />The system also enables Hopcoms to monitor the performance of stores and also undertake stock management from the headquarters. <br /><br />Hopcoms has also undertaken computerisation of warehouse activities so that they can be managed online from the headquarters.</p>
