Hyssna Global Konkani Cine Awards on Dec 9

The Mandd Sobhann will present the first global Konkani Cine Awards – ‘Hyssna Global Konkani Cine Awards’ – at Kalaangann on December 9.

Dr Shravan Kumar, joint secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will be chief guest while eminent multi-lingual actor Prakash Rai will be the celebrity guest.

The programme is to begin at 6 pm. Lorna, the Nightingale of Goa, backed by a live band of accomplished musicians, led by Norman Cardozo, will provide music. Naisa Lotlikar, the young Goan singing sensation, will also be performing at the event. Nach Sobhann will present dances.

The panel of judges includes Richard Castelino (Mangaluru), Jitendra Shikerkar (Goa), Rajesh Fernandes (Honnavar), Dr Rajay Pawar (Goa), John M Permannur, Charan Kumar (Mangaluru) and Dolwin Mendonca (Kolalgiri).

The awards consist of the coveted title, a trophy and Rs 25,000 each.

The top three nominees in each of the eight categories have been shortlisted by the jury, and they have also been invited to the award ceremony where the winners will be declared.

Best director: Christ Silva, Harry Fernandes, K Akshay Nayak

Best actor (male): Elton Mascarenhas, Jackie Shroff and Sujay Shanubhog

Best actor (female): Ester Noronha, Priya Menezes and Seema Biswas

Best supporting actor (male): Chidanand Kamath, Nagendra Shenoy and Ron Rodrigues

Best supporting actor (female): Frivita D’Souza, Poornima Suresh and Sonam Morajkar

Best script: Harry Fernandes, K Akshay Nayak and Pradeep Barboza

Best music: Ramith Mahesh, Christ Silva / Joel Fernandes / Tyron Noronha and Vanil Veigas
