Is govt getting a single rupee from either mosques or churches?: Ex-MP Pratap Simha demands report on religion-wise tax collection

Mysuru: Former MP Pratap Simha demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to prepare a report on tax collection on the basis of religion.

Speaking to media persons, in Mysuru, on Tuesday, he said, the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in Karnataka should prepare a religion-wise report on how much tax is being collected from Hindus, Muslims and Christians and release it on public domain.

“The people should know, whose contribution is what to the Revenue mentioned in the State Budget. Is the government getting a single rupee from either a mosque or a church? Does the budget have an allocation for Vokkaliga, Lingayat, Madiwala or Brahmin development corporations? Compare it to the allocations for Muslims and their institutions. There is no crime in labelling the State Budget as ‘Halal’,” he said.

Simha also demanded the CM to close all madrasas and Urdu schools in Karnataka. “Due to their flawed education modules, those who study in such institutions are loyal to Pakistan, rather than to India,” he said.
