Udupi District In-charge Secretary Maheshwar Rao has directed the officials to issue summons to the NHAI officials and Navyug Construction Company for failing to complete the four-laning of the national highway within the stipulated time.

Speaking at a review meet on Friday, the secretary said that the NHAI officials and Navyug have failed to complete the deal as per the agreement.

Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis told the secretary that Navyug is not competing the work in time, which has inconvenienced the public. “The traffic is affected. They have failed to complete even after extending the deadline. The NHAI officials do not respond to the grievances,” she alleged.

Rao, after reviewing the works ordered the Zilla Panchayat CEO to convert all the wooden foot bridges into concrete.

Crop insurance

He insisted on crop insurance which would help compensate for crop loss. He directed the cooperative societies to include the insurance aspect and not to decline the facilities to the farmers. He also said that Aadhaar number should be seeded to the bank accounts to waive the loans.

Rao said that measures should be taken to set up biogas manufacturing units on a large scale. The garbage should be segregated at the source in ULBs. The work on sea wall construction to check sea erosion should be initiated at the earliest.
