Not all is well within the JD(S) over the candidature of its Bengaluru City youth wing president H M Ramesh Gowda for the Legislative Council bypolls.

Gowda filed his nomination papers on Monday hardly 15 minutes before the deadline. He was joined only by an aide of Public Works Minister H D Revanna.

Apparently, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and JD(S) state president H Vishwanath were not in favour of Gowda’s candidature. That not a single minister from the JD(S) accompanied Gowda when he filed his nomination showed the mood in the regional party.

Gowda has been chosen to fill up the MLC seat vacated by BJP’s V Somanna, the term of which will end in 2022. He was chosen over the likes of party leaders such as Y S V Datta, N H Kona Reddy, Ramesh Babu among others.

It is said that Gowda’s name was finalised by JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda.
