<p>Mandya district in-charge minister N Chaluvarayaswamy called on people to love Kannada and said that it is the duty of every one to stand together for Kannada language, land and water. </p><p>Speaking at the inaugural event of 87th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahithya Sammelana in Mandya on Friday, he said, "state Government is committed to stand with people of the State for it and there is no compromise in it."</p><p>"Hence the State government was generous enough to grant enough funds for grand celebrations. It has extended support for everything including illumination of the city and hosting Police band on the concert on the lines of Mysuru Dasara," he added. </p>.Mandya is a land of pure Kannada, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.<p>He even recalled all the support of Congress-led State Government for the development of Mandya including funds for the Mandya sugar factory among others.</p><p>Hailing affection and sweetness of people of Mandya, Chaluvarayaseamy recalled its significance in upholding culture and art. He recalled significant personalities of Mandya like S M Krishna, writers like B M Srikantaiah, Pu Thi Na, K S Narasimhaswamy, H L Nagegowda, freedom fighters involved Shivapura Satyagraha and others. </p><p>Chaluvarayaswamy said "out of 6000 languages 2000 languages have faded away" and highlighted the importance of protecting a language.</p>.<p>Legislative Assembly speaker U T Khader said "This grand Sammelana proves that, people of Mandya can achieve anything if they make their mind. Amid the evolution of Science and technology and western influence such Sammelanas play a greater role in strengthening our culture. It is every one's duty to take forward our identity- Kannada. Kannada language plays a vital role in keeping everyone united. Parents, Kannada Sahitya Parishat should play a major role in teaching Kannada language, introducing Kannada literature and Kannada books to the younger generation. It is important to love other languages too besides nurturing our language," he said.</p><p>Khader said that they did some bonus work to cut short the Assembly session and put all the efforts to be in the Sammelana and this indicates Government's commitment for the protection of Kannada. Khader even sang a song 'Hasurina Haasyaaga' and won admiration of people. </p><p>Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi said, "Kannada is a rich language. It is said that Mandava Maharshi meditated in Mandya and hence it is named after his name. We are happy to host the first Sammelana after the State celebrated Suvarna Karnataka Sambrama," he said.</p>.<p>Adichunchanagiri mutt seer Nirmalanandanathswamy said that such fests are necessary to alleviate hatredness, stay united, evolve and strive for overall progress of every one (Sarvodaya), he said. </p><p>Box: Scientific literature required: Dodda Rangegowda</p><p>Past Sammela President Dodda Rangegowda said, "in my 40 years of research I have found that Kannada language has 5000 years of history not just 2000 years". </p><p>He highlighted that Scientific, rational literature (Vaichaarika saahithya) is necessary today to create awareness to evolve as new persons.</p>
