<p>Bengaluru: The death toll due to Covid in Karnataka increased to nine on Saturday, with the deaths of a 46-year-old man in Ballari and a 78-year-old man in Belagavi.</p><p>According to the state health department’s Covid bulletin, both the men had Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI), displaying symptoms of fever, breathlessness, and cough. </p><p>While the older man had ischemic heart disease and Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a disorder with low platelets, the 46-year-old man had pulmonary heart disease with arterial hypertension. Both of them died on June 5, with an incidental Covid positive status. Both of them were fully vaccinated.</p> .<p>The number of active Covid positive cases in Karnataka stood at 366 as of Saturday, with 57 new positive cases reported in the last 24 hours. Nearly 133 have recovered or been 'discharged' as of Saturday. Since January this year, a total 894 cases of Covid have been recorded, including 519 patients who recovered and nine who died.</p><p>Over the past 24 hours, 542 Covid tests have been conducted, and the state's positivity rate stood at 10.5 per cent, with a case fatality rate of 3.5 per cent.</p><p>At least 13 patients are in hospitals across the state, including 10 in general beds and three in ICUs, while 353 patients are isolated at home.</p>
