KPTCL launches news mobile app to check underground cable work to avoid traffic snarls

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), on Saturday, launched a new mobile application to track the underground cabling work going on across the state.

The underground cabling work has caused traffic snarls in many areas in Bengaluru and the application comes as a big relief to many commuters as they can now track the roads where the works are going on and avoid them to escape traffic.

The application comes with a map view feature which is integrated into a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform that displays real-time updates on UG cable excavation works across Karnataka. The initiative aims to keep citizens informed about ongoing projects and associated traffic disruptions.

“The public can better plan their activities and reduce inconvenience. This proactive approach is expected to minimise public inconvenience and foster community engagement,” a statement by the Energy Department said.

Energy Minister K J George, who launched the application opined that the move will help increase transparency and operational efficiency.

“These digital tools, developed with the latest GIS technology, represent a leap forward in our commitment to transparency, public convenience, and technical excellence. By leveraging GIS technology, we are not only improving internal efficiency but also ensuring that citizens stay informed and safe,” he said.
