Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) vice-chancellor D Shivalingaiah has got an extension up to May 31. His three-year term ended on March 10 and a new VC is expected to be appointed shortly. The process for the new appointment is under progress and a search committee has recommended a few names to the Governor.
An order from the office of the Governor states that the service of the VC has been extended in view of his contributions to the varsity so far. It has to be mentioned that the courses offered by the KSOU had been de-recognised by the University Grants Commission from the academic year 2013-14. The UGC renewed its recognition to the KSOU due to his efforts, it is said.
