<p>Mangaluru: A man has lost Rs 13,57,973 in the name of currency trading. </p><p>The complainant said that in March when he was searching for herbal products online, he came across a <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/karnataka/man-loses-rs-76-lakh-in-online-stock-market-scam-in-mangaluru-3456608">website named CHAT IB</a> which had a Telegram account with the username @Saanvi070. When the complainant initiated a chat on this account, the person responded claiming to be Saanvi Shetty, and stated that she was based in Dubai.</p><p>When the complainant inquired about herbal products, she replied that she could discuss it when she visited Bengaluru. Later, she introduced the complainant to currency trading and claimed that investing in it would generate profits. She sent a link via Telegram and asked the complainant to register on that platform.</p>.Fingerprint, eye-scan may be required for stock trade via app.<p>Following her instructions, the complainant opened the link, entered his email ID, and registered. Initially, as directed, the complainant invested Rs 21,250 by transferring it to a bank account provided via Telegram. Later, he was asked to send a photo of the payment to WhatsApp number 8235446394, which the complainant did from his mobile number.</p><p>Subsequently, the complainant was able to withdraw a profit of Rs 2,550 from the first investment, which built trust. Later, the complainant was asked to join a Telegram group.</p><p>Following further instructions from the group, the complainant made multiple investments via NEFT and RTGS transfers to different bank accounts provided by unknown individuals between March 26 and April 28. </p><p>Unknown individuals fraudulently collected Rs 13,57,973 from the complainant under the guise of currency trading through online means. Having realised that the complainant has been cheated, a case has been registered at Mangaluru CEN station.</p>
