Murthy’s suspension: HC notice to Speaker

The High Court has issued notices to the Special Board of Karnataka Legislative Assembly Secretariat (KLA), Speaker and In-charge Secretary (KLA) while hearing a petition filed by S Murthy seeking a stay of the investigation proceedings initiated against him by the KLA.

Murthy, the suspended secretary of KLA, has moved the High Court seeking directions to the competent authorities to call for records pertaining to the notice dated February2, issued to him.

To this, the Advocate General submitted that appropriate instructions will be
given so as to furnish the required documents.

S Murthy was suspended on charges of irregularities during the 2017 Belagavi Legislature session. The court has also rejected the interim order sought by Murthy in his petition challenging his suspension order passed by the Speaker. Murthy had sought for directions to stay the operation of the said suspension order.
