New feeder vessel begins operations at NMP

The continuous efforts of Port authorities to provide the best of services to its customers is yielding the result with TCI Seaways starting new feeder vessel operations connecting Mundra, New Mangalore and Kochi ports weekly.

The Indian flagged vessel ‘TCI Express’, loaded with containers, made its maiden voyage from Mundra Port to New Mangalore on July 7 and sailed to Kochi Port the same day.

The vessel unloaded 52 containers and picked up 5 export containers from New Mangalore Port. The vessel has a capacity to carry 800 TEUs with 26,000 DWT.

The vessel was first launched in 1997. Presently, TCI Seaways is operating feeder vessels in the east and west coasts of India connecting various ports. Sri Ganesh Shipping Agency is the C and F agent to book the containerised cargo for various destinations. TCI Seaways CEO Captain Khanejo, Ganesh Shipping Agency Managing Partner B Nagaraja Shetty, and NMPT Traffic Manager and Senior Deputy Traffic Manager were present on the occasion.

NMPT is witnessing a steady growth in container traffic in the past few years due to the pro-active initiatives of the Port management coupled with infrastructure addition. In the last fiscal 2017-18, the port has achieved record container traffic of 1.15 lakh TEUs registering a growth of 23%. The trend is continuing and the Port is expected to register further growth during the current financial year too.
