Notorious rowdy arrested in Mangaluru

The Mangaluru police fired at a notorious rowdy and arrested him, at Pacchanady on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Tuesday late night.

According to City Police Commissioner Sandip Patil, the arrested is Ummar Farooq. The police had gone to arrest him when Farooq fired at the police and injured constable Sandeep.
In retaliation for self-protection, the police fired at Farooq and arrested him.

He was wanted in two cases and was also conspiring to kill Sameer, an accused in the murder of Ilyas, a notorious criminal and a leader of a Target Group.

Farooq is also the brother-in-law of Ilyas. He along with Sumra Imran and others were conspiring to kill Sameer, said the police commissioner.
