<p>Mangaluru: The Bantwal Rural Police have successfully cracked a theft case involving a large quantity of arecanut from Poonjuru in Maninalkuru village limits. </p><p>According to the complaint filed on July 23, arecanut stored in around 45 plastic sacks worth Rs 2,20,000 was stolen between July 3 and 22.</p><p>Under the leadership of Police Inspector Shivakumar B, a team consisting of PSI Manjunath T, ASI Jinnappa Gowda, head constables Rajesh, Nazeer, Lokesh, Prashanth and Constables Maruti and Hanumanth conducted the investigation.</p>.Arecanut, black pepper trade fraud: Karnataka vendor flees with over Rs 94 lakh unpaid.<p>The team apprehended Satish (29), a resident of Paicharu village in Sullia. Upon interrogation and search, the police recovered 15 sacks of stolen dry arecanut worth Rs 74,000, Rs 70,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of the stolen goods, and a goods auto used in the crime, valued at approximately Rs 80,000. The total recovery amounts to Rs 2,24,000.</p><p>The accused has been produced before the Bantwal court, which has remanded him in judicial custody.</p><p>The police had registered a case under Section 306 of the BNS.</p>
