'Police stations in state have turned into Congress stations': R Ashoka

Mangaluru: Legislative Assembly Opposition leader R Ashoka criticised that the police stations in the state are not run by the government. They are run by the Congress party.

In the aftermath of murders in the district, the SP and Police Commissioner have been transferred, he pointed out and asked as per which law the houses of Hindu leaders are being raided by the police in the wee hours.

“BJP is with Hindu workers”, he said and urged police not to succumb to the pressure by petty leaders of Congress party.

A case was filed against Hindu leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for delivering a speech. Why no case was filed against MLC Ivan D'Souza who used unparliamentary words for the Governor of Karnataka, he asked.

He further said that in Bengaluru, BJP is with the police. The state government has been targeting officials for the failure of political leadership. He condemned the suspension of five senior police officials in Bengaluru following the Chinnaswamy stampede case.

Responding to Congress leader MLC B K Hariprasad's comment saying Suhas Shetty was a rowdy sheeter and there was no need for NIA probe in his murder, Ashoka asked why Deputy CM D K Shivakumar was in jail earlier. There are cases against the DCM. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi too, has cases against him and has availed bail earlier.

“Nobody is a culprit till the court decides him to be”, Ashoka said.

To another query, Ashoka dared the state government to write to the Central Government to hand over the murder cases of muslim youth in the district to NIA.

Ashoka said DCM D K Shivakumar had referred to the perpetrator of Mangaluru cooker blast as his brother and the DCM has a soft side for his 'brothers'. However, it is not the same feeling as him for the general public.

The state government is comparing patriots with traitors. This will not work for long. The state government can topple any time if it continues this attitude.

He meanwhile expressed his confidence on the truth coming out through the NIA probe in the Suhas Shetty murder case.
