Raga Sudha Rasa Sangeethotsava from Nov 2

Mani Krishnaswami Academy will organise “Raga Sudha Rasa” Sangeethotsava at Town Hall in Mangaluru, between November 2 and 5.

Academy President Capt Ganesh Karnik told reporters that Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple Managing Trustee Sharavu Raghavendra Shastry will inaugurate the Sangeethotsava. Bharath Group Managing Director Ananth G Pai will be the chief guest.

Academy Secretary P Nityananda Rao said that Sangeethotsava will commence with musical concert by Dr S Sowmya from Chennai at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Edappalli Ajith Kumar on violin and K S Mahesh Kumar on mridanga.

On November 3, over 50 students of Nada Saraswathi Music School will present a musical programme at 4 pm. Later, in the stage programme, Yuva Kalamani award will be conferred on Mridanga and Flute artiste Krishna Pawan Kumar, he said.

“The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and citation. The annual Mani Krishnaswami Award instituted by Mani Krishnaswami Foundation, Chennai will be conferred on Archana and Samanvi from Udupi. The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and citation,” Karnik added.
Senior achievers in the field of music Krishnaveni Hebbar and Vasanthi Ram Bhat will be honoured on the occasion, he said.

Rao said that the stage function will be followed by Carnatic music by Carnatic vocalist Sreevalsan J Menon. He will be accomapnied by Edappalli Ajith Kumar on violin and Trichi B Harikumar on mridanga.

On November 4, the Sangeethotsava programme will be held at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal. The programme will commence Carnatic musical concert by Archana and Samanvi from Udupi at 4 pm. The duo will be accompanied by Gokul Alankod on violin and Sajin Lal Edapal on mridanga, Rao added.

Krishna Pavan Kumar and Anish Bhat will present jugalbandhi at 6 pm. They wil be accomapnied by Vaibhav Ramani on violin, Nikshith T Puttur on mridanga, he said.

On November 5, the programme will be held at Town Hall with an unique — ‘Raga ondu- Bhava halavu’ at 5.45 pm. This programme will have a fusion of all forms of art—Carnatic, Hindustani, Yakshagana, Bhavageethe, filmy song and Bhajan. Artistes like Srivibhu Bhat, Dr Shashikanth Kaudooru, P Nityananda Rao, Raghavendra Achar, Sangeetha Balachandra and Sudarshan Kunjathaya will sing these art forms, Rao added.

As a part of Kannada Rajyotsava, Academy in association with Fine Arts and Yakshagana STudy Centre of Govinda Dasa College, SUrathkal will organise a musical programme with classical songs based filmy music, bhavageethe and Dasara Padagalu, by Sangeetha Balachandra and Yashvanth Acharya, on November 1, at 5.30 pm, at the college. They will be accomapnied by Gururaj M B on keyboard, Naveen Bondel on rhythm pad and Veekshith Kodancha on tabla.

The Nagarika Salaha Samithi, Surathkal and Academy will organise ‘Udayaraga’ at Surathkal flyover, on November 4 at 6 am. The concert will be by Pramod Gokhale who will be accompanied by Dhanasri Shabaraya on violin, Krishna Pavan Kumar on mridanga and Rakshitha Shetty on Tambura.
