<p>Bidar: The School Education and Literacy Department has issued a circular asking all government and private schools to mandatorily provide information on free child helpline 1098.</p>.<p>According to the circular, students should be told about the advantages of calling the 24x7 helpline meant for children in need of care and protection.</p>.<p>The information must be communicated during the prayer assembly held in schools every morning. </p>.Activist urges CM Siddaramaiah for free education to kids till 18 years.<p>The circular also says that the information on the helpline should be written on the walls of schools and colleges and publicised on their websites. </p>.<p>The publicity for the helpline was till now restricted only to railway stations and bus stands.</p>.<p>The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) has welcomed the government’s move to educate children on the helpline. </p>.<p>“Many children in distress do not know who they should approach. The helpline has not been given proper publicity. If the students are educated about the facility in schools and colleges, they can call the helpline in times of distress,” said Shashidhar Kosambe, a member of the KSCPCR. </p>
