A 16-year-old boy was electrocuted when he tried to take a selfie from a stationary goods wagon, at Naganahalli railway station in the taluk on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Preetham, a first PU student and a resident of Naguvinahalli. The sources said, Preetham climbed the goods wagon, that was stationed at the Naganahalli railway station on Thursday morning and tried to take a selfie with his mobile phone. Within seconds, Preetham fell from the wagon top and died due to electric shock.
Railway police said the mobile phone had attracted electricity from the 25,000-vo high tension cable, which was at a distance of four feet, causing him severe burns.
