<p> The announcement was made by the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa at the Police Commemoration Day Parade here on Wednesday.<br /><br />Yeddyurappa said that the measure was taken for better law and order in the State. He added that the state was allocating Rs 2 crore towards establishing the S A Muthanna police training school in Dharwad. He also said that the weekly allowance given to policemen will be hiked from Rs 50 to Rs 100.<br /><br />“The announcement was made last year but the hike could not be implemented. However, it will be implemented in a few days,” Yeddyurappa said. He added that the State government would release Rs 1 crore every year for the police welfare fund. While praising the police for their flood relief and rescue works, he said the police personnel had also contributed Rs 24 crore towards the relief fund. <br /><br />Yeddyurappa also assured the police that the government or elected representatives will not interfere in the transfers of officials from now on and will be the responsibility of senior officials.<br /><br />He said that there was ramapant interference from politicians and elected representatives in transfers, which was coming in the way of law and order in the State.</p>
