<p>Tumakuru: Lawyers in Tumakuru are preparing for a major protest against the district administration’s delay in allocating land for the District Court Complex near Amalapur village in the taluk.</p><p>Despite repeated appeals to the deputy commissioner, no decision has been made. A final deadline of July 16 has been set for land allotment.</p><p>A meeting chaired by District Principal and Sessions Judge B Jayanthkumar was held on Tuesday in the City, during which lawyers strongly criticised N Tippeswami, an officer who attended the meeting with approval for only 10 acres.</p><p>“The court complex requires 20 acres, but the deputy commissioner is deliberately misleading the judiciary. Her absence from the scheduled meeting, despite prior notice, is an insult to the judiciary and shows disrespect to the court,” the lawyers stated.</p><p>They demanded a clear resolution from the administration, warning, “If no decision is made by July 17, courts will be boycotted and an indefinite protest will be held launched the deputy commissioner’s office. The administration may file any number of cases, but the deputy commissioner will be held directly responsible for any legal consequences.”</p><p>Judge Jayanthkumar added, “The 20 acres requested include 15 acres reserved for MSMEs and five acres for the Science Centre. This land is essential for the district’s development, not personal gain. No other district in the state faces such an issue.”</p><p>Once the court complex is built, existing buildings will be handed over to the Revenue Department. Offices currently operating in rented spaces across the City can be relocated, centralising services, the lawyers said and warned that if the land is not allocated, protests will escalate statewide.</p><p>District Lawyers’ Bar Association President K Kemparajayya, Vice-president Ravigowda, General Secretary Mahesh Hirehalli, and lawyers C K Mahendra, B G Nagaraj, Shivakumar, M B Basavaraj, M B Naveenkumar, Sindhoori and others attended the meeting.</p>
