<p>Udupi: The Shirva police have arrested one more person in connection with the June 27 theft reported in a house and recovered gold ornaments and an ingot weighing over 248 grams, worth Rs 22.32 lakh. </p><p>The accused has been identified as KE Mohammed.</p><p>The arrest followed an investigation into a house break-in, wherein miscreants had decamped with gold jewellery worth over Rs 12 lakh.</p><p>Udupi SP Hariram Shankar said that a theft had taken place at the residence of Pavitra Poojarthi located on Mattaru Road in Shirva village. While she and her son were asleep, miscreants broke open the window hooks and forcefully opened the door latch using an iron rod to gain entry into the house. During the course of the investigation, police arrested a suspect named Itte Barpe Abubakkar, who confessed to the crime. He also revealed that he had handed over the stolen ornaments, along with gold from earlier thefts, to one KE Mohammed of Uppala for sale. </p><p>Following this lead, police apprehended KE Mohammed and recovered the gold ingot linked to theft cases registered in Shirva, Padubidri, and Karkala Rural police stations. The total weight of the seized gold ingot is 182 grams, said the SP. </p><p>In total, from both Aboobacker and KE Mohammed, police recovered 248.760 grams of gold ornaments and bars, collectively valued at Rs 22.32 lakh. The arrested have been remanded in judicial custody. The arrest was carried out by police officers and personnel from Shirva, and Ajekaru police stations.</p>
