Cooperation Minister Bandeppa Kashempur said that an appeal will be made to the Central government on fixing a uniform rate for agricultural products in APMCs across the country and to provide 75% subsidy to District Central Cooperative Banks through Nabard.

Addressing media persons, he said a delegation, led by JD(S) Supremo and MP H D Deve Gowda, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a memorandum will be submitted to the him in this regard.

The minister welcomed the initiative by the Central government for announcing a minimum support price for 13 agricultural products.

“Also, agricultural warehouses should be set up for the benefit of farmers. Loans should be provided on the guarantee of products deposited in the warehouses,” he said.

“Currently, Nabard provides 40% subsidy to DCC banks. The percentage should be increased to 75%. If the farmers are willing, a ‘farmers bazaar’ will be set up in the district,” he said.

He said, “Stepping down of Minister N Mahesh, will not affect the coalition government. JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda will solve the issue amicably.”
