ZP chief appeals CM to release grants

Zilla Panchayat president B A Harish has appealed to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to release the grants immediately for Kodagu district to take up rain-relief works.

He said that Kodagu district has received above normal rainfall this year. As a result, roads, footbridges, electricity poles have been damaged.

Kodagu district has 4,274.74km roads coming under ZP. Owing to lack of funds, the maintenance of these roads could not be taken up. All the rural roads have been damaged. An additional amount of Rs 50 crore is required for repairing the rural roads, he added.

He has appealed the chief minister to release Rs 50 crore to rejuvenate 680 lakes under the Zilla Panchayat jurisdiction in the district.
