<p>Thiruvananthapuram: In view of an increase in Covid-19 cases in Kerala, the state health authorities are intensifying surveillance.</p><p>As many as 273 Covid cases were reported in the state in May which is quite higher than that during the previous months. Indicating the surge, the total cases during this month were 182 as on Thursday which has now increased to 273.</p><p>Kottayam district in central Kerala and state capital Thiruvananthapuram have reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases-- 82 and 73 respectively.</p>.ED, Kerala Vigilance lock horns over bribery allegation against probe agency official.<p>Health Minister Veena George said that in view of a COVID wave in Southeast Asia, surveillance in Kerala would also be intensified. She advised people to take adequate precautions like wearing masks and washing hands.</p><p>Health department sources said that the number of Covid tests in Kerala has remained low and hence many JN 1 variant positive cases could have gone unreported. </p>
