<p>Thiruvananthapuram: The Enforcement directorate and the Kerala government's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) are locking horns over the vigilance case against an ED official and middlemen on charges of settling cases by taking bribe of Rs 2 crore.</p><p>While the ED is defending itself by stating that the VACB was acting upon fake complaint by a businessman involved in a Rs 25 crore money laundering case, the VACB is countering it by citing that they have acted on the basis of prima facie evidence.</p><p>VACB sources also said that more such complaints of ED officials settling cases by accepting bribes have come up and those were being verified.</p><p>While the VACB have also sought details from ED regarding the Rs 30 crore black money case against Kollam based cashew businessman Aneesh Babu, the ED was learnt to have sought details of the case against its officer from the VACB.</p>.88-year-old Kerala woman who staged 'begging' protest joins BJP .<p>It was based on Aneesh Babu's petition that the ED officials were demanding bribe through middlemen that the VACB acted. ED maintained that Aneesh Babu and his family members were facing a Rs 25 crore money laundering case and was also not cooperating with the investigation. </p><p>With three middlemen, including a chartered accountant, held in the case received bail from the Vigilance court on Thursday, the ED is strengthening its version that the VACB was yet to get any evidence to link ED officials with the case.</p><p>ED assistant director Shekhar Kumar, who was arraigned as first accused in the vigilance case, also moved anticipatory bail plea at the Kerala High Court alleging that the VACB was acting upon a vindictive move by a person facing ED probe.</p><p>Meanwhile, VACB superintendent of police S Sasidharan heading the probe said on Friday that the prima facie there was evidence for the allegation and all facts would be unearthed in the due course. </p><p>The VACB action against ED assumes much political significance as ED was also looking into the suspicious financial dealing of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter Veena T with a controversial mining firm.</p><p>Vijayan said the other day that ED's credibility has been affected with the bribery case and sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to restore the public confidence about the central agency.</p>
