<p>Thiruvananthapuram: A Tamil Nadu native, who was found guilty of murdering a 38-year-old woman in Thiruvananthapuram, has been <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/death-sentence">sentenced to death</a> by a court on Thursday. </p><p>Rajendran, 42, of Thovala in Kanyakumari was sentenced for the murder of Vineetha, 38, a worker at a plant nursery in Thiruvananthapuram on February 6, 2022.</p><p>Thiruvananthapuram additional sessions judge Prasoon Mohan delivered the judgment on Thursday. Apart from the death sentence, the convict was also awarded life term for murder with the intention of robbery. A fine of Rs 8,10,500 was also imposed on the convict. Rajendran, who was already involved in three murders, killed Vineetha and stole her gold chain. Various CCTV footage near the crime spot helped in tracking the culprit. </p><p>Special prosecutor M Salahudeen pointed out that the convict so far killed four persons for robbery. Three of them were women and the chances of reformation of the convict was remote.</p><p>He also pointed out that in case the convict was awarded life term, there are chances that he comes out on parole using the loopholes in law and indulge in such heinous crimes again.</p><p>A team led by former Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner G Sparjan Kumar probed the case.</p>
