Pinarayi Vijayan replies to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on offer to construct 100 houses in Wayanad

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sent a letter to his Karnataka counterpart Siddaramaiah citing the reason for the delay in following up Karnataka government's offer to construct 100 houses for those who lost their homes in the Wayanad landslide.

Vijayan informed that Kerala government is in the process of setting up townships for rehabilitating the disaster affected people and preparing a comprehensive rehabilitation plan by integrating all offers of support, including that of the Karnataka government. Once the plan is finalised, Kerala government will inform the Karnataka government.

Vijayan's letter was in reply to a letter sent by Siddaramaiah last week expressing concerns over the lack of response from the Kerala government on Karnataka government's offer to construct 100 houses. Siddaramaiah had said that owing to the lack of response from the Kerala government on the matter, Karnataka government was unable to take further steps in this regard and even offered to purchase land required for constructing the houses.

This had caused much embarrassment to the Kerala government which is accusing the centre of delaying the assistance for rehibition of the landslide affected.
