Shady links of NRI party member: Congress, BJP seek probe over row neglected by Kerala CPM

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM in Kerala is neglecting a fresh row over the alleged shady deals of a party member doing business in the UK even as the Congress and BJP is trying to cash in.

The row is over the alleged links of many party leaders with CPM member Rajesh Krishna, who is a businessman based in UK.

A complaint given by Chennai-based businessman Mohammed Sharshad, who is also a CPM man, against Krishna to the CPM politburo in 2021 has now come out. It alleges shady dealings of many senior party leaders with Krishna and looting of government funds using fictitious firms operated by Krishnan in the UK.

After the letter came out, Sharshad alleged that CPM state secretary M V Govindan's son could have leaked out the letter owing to his dealings with Sharshad.

The allegations against Krishna had surfaced earlier also and he was even kept off the party earlier this year.

Krishna later filed a defamation suit at Delhi High Court for the 'baseless allegations'. The complaint filed by Sharshad against him to the Polit Buro  was also included along with the complaint. The court also issued notices to some media organisations in this connection.

Local self government minister M B Rajesh and former finance minister Thomas Isaac, who were allegedly having links with the UK-based businessman, termed the allegations baseless. The CPM state secretary also outrightly rejected the allegations.

Opposition leader V D Satheesan and BJP leader V Muraleedhran sought a detailed inquiry into the allegation.
