Goa and Karnataka are like two eyes (in a body) and the interests of both states is the collective interest of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the party national general secretary C T Ravi said on Saturday while commenting on the Mahadayi river dispute issue.

Ravi, who is Goa to attend a state executive meeting scheduled to be held in Panaji on Sunday, also said that the party would follow the Supreme Court's judgement as far as the inter-state river dispute is concerned.

"BJP works for national interest. Goa and Karnataka are like two eyes. Goa is like Karnataka and Karnataka is like Goa. The interests of both states is the interest of our party," Ravi, a sitting legislator from Karnataka said, when asked to comment on the Mahadayi dispute.

"As far as Mahadayi is concerned, we will follow a court judgement," he also said.

The Opposition in Goa has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, accusing him of compromising Goa's interests in the river water dispute with Karnataka.

Goa has already filed two petitions in the Supreme Court in connection with the water dispute. In a special leave petition the Goa government has challenged the award of the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal and in a contempt petition the state government has accused Karnataka of already illegally diverted water from the Mahadayi river.
