Mumbai: In a broadside against Uddhav Thackeray, deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde slammed the Shiv Sena (UBT) head for "constantly criticising" Prime Minister Narendra Modi who "fulfilled late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray’s vision of a grand Ram Temple" in Ayodhya.

“You constantly criticise Modi, the very man who fulfilled Balasaheb’s dream of building the Ram Temple. Modi also taught Pakistan a lesson through Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam attack. If Balasaheb were alive, he would have praised Modi wholeheartedly. But you only seek accountability — not from Pakistan, but from our brave soldiers,” Shinde said addressing a rally in Bhandara district.
.Eknath Shinde announces 42-metre statue of his mentor Anand Dighe in Thane.
“You never held Pakistan accountable for the Mumbai terror attacks, the Parliament attack, or the Pulwama incident. Instead, you question the Indian Army and the Prime Minister. The public will never forgive you for this,” said Shinde, who had toppled Thackeray’s Maha Vikas Aghadi government three years ago, taking over as the chief minister with BJP's support.

“Dr. Shrikant Shinde led the parliamentary delegation that explained Operation Sindoor to the world, while I was entrusted with moving a resolution on it at the NDA meeting. A Shiv Sainik embodies patriotism, nationalism, and Hindutva. Yet, you disrespected them — and now you are alone. Think about why so many left your side over the last three years.”

Shinde also accused Thackeray of betraying the ideals of Hindutva and Shiv Sainiks in pursuit of political power. “A Shiv Sainik is a blazing flame of Hindutva, yet you treated them like they were worthless. That’s why no one wants to ally with you today. You are now politically isolated,” Shinde said.
