<p>Mumbai: Nagpur will get a Rs 25,567 crore comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) - which will give a major boost to the infrastructure development in the geographical centre of India. </p><p>The CMP covers Nagpur city and the Nagpur metropolitan region. </p><p>The meeting hosted by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) at the Metro Bhawan in Nagpur was chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule among others. </p><p>While Gadkari is an MP from Nagpur, Fadnavis and Bawankule are MLAs from Nagpur South West and Kamthi, respectively. </p><p>“The CMP will drive Nagpur forward,” Fadnavis said. </p><p>According to him, the government is making efforts to ensure smooth and efficient transport facilities that connect all areas with accessible public transport in the expanding city of Nagpur.</p><p>“Although the current road infrastructure in Nagpur is good. The number of vehicles has increased significantly. A new CMP has been prepared for fundamental development, including the construction of new roads connecting all areas with safe footpaths for pedestrians, widening of congested junctions, creation of bus stops for city buses, proper planning of public transport bus routes, and bus connectivity from metro stations,” he said.</p><p>The CM also instructed authorities to gather public opinion to make the draft plan, worth approximately Rs 25,567 crore, more citizen-friendly and effective.</p>.Nagpur airport gets bomb threat; nothing suspicious found in search.<p>The MahaMetro has begun the process of getting the CMP for Nagpur City and Nagpur Metropolitan Region. </p><p>This is being carried out according to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India. </p><p>"The CMP is a long-term strategic document that guides urban and freight transport systems. It helps in planning the necessary investments for an integrated, inclusive, and sustainable urban transport system,” he said.</p><p>The first mobility plan for Nagpur city was prepared in 2013 by the Nagpur Improvement Trust.</p><p>Later, in July 2018, MahaMetro revised it after new surveys and consultations. Considering Nagpur’s growing expansion, further studies were conducted and consultations were held under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur to address future needs and provide better facilities to citizens. </p><p>Based on the suggestions received, this new Comprehensive Mobility Plan is being prepared. </p><p>Among others present include minister of state for finance and planning Ashish Jaiswal, who is the Ramtek MLA and MLAs Krishna Khopde, Pravin Datke, Sameer Meghe, Charansingh Thakur.</p>
