<p>Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam landed in a controversy for making insensitive comments over the Swargate Bus Stand rape in Pune.</p><p>Kadam asked why the victim did not resist the assault. This comment led the Maharashtra government to come under fire from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi.</p><p>Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also asked ministers "to be extra sensitive” in making comments.</p> .Pune bus rape case: Accused detained from Shirur, says police.<p>After the incident, Kadam said, “In majority of the rape cases, the accused and victim know each other or are in contact. Unknown persons in rape cases is rare. As a government we are trying to control crimes against women. Amendments have been made and now we have BNS.” </p><p>Kadam said that the incident took place around 0600 hrs and she came to police station around 0900 hrs. The police started the investigations and the accused was identified. </p><p>“The survivor did not resist the accused. There were 10 to 15 people near the bus, but they did not notice the crime. If there had been resistance, passengers would have rushed to her aid,” he said. </p>.<p>Kadam belongs to Shiv Sena Party and is son of veteran leader Ramdas Kadam, a former minister and ex-Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council. </p><p>Fadnavis, defended Kadam and said that his comments were being misinterpreted. </p><p>“He is new, he is a young minister. I will advise him to be extra sensitive. Ministers and people’s representatives must be sensitive. If something goes wrong while speaking, it has a negative impact on the public mind,” he said. </p> .<p>Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi founder Prakash Ambedkar said that the comments from Kadam were insensitive. </p><p>“Why should he remain in the ministry? This is a question that Fadnavis should ask himself,” he said. </p><p>Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar said: “What is the relationship of the Maha Yuti with the accused in the Swargate rape case? Why is the Maha Yuti minister accusing the victim to save the accused?</p><p>"Even though the accused has not been arrested yet in the Swargate rape case, is Yogesh Kadam giving a clean chit to the accused? </p><p>"Rape took place in Swargate and according to the minister the girl did not resist, which means they are putting the responsibility of this crime on the victim. Ministers should have some shame while making statements!” </p> .<p>Shiv Sena (UBT) Sanjay Raut said that Kadam’s statement was completely unacceptable. </p><p>“Such language coming from minister is not acceptable, 'The victim did not struggle,' this is what the minister said.” </p><p>"A statement like this is never appropriate coming from the state's minister of home. We completely disapprove of it, and believe that Maharashtra's Chief Minister should immediately take action and demand the resignation of the Minister of State for Home,” NCP (SP) leader Amar Kale.</p>
