<p>Guwahati: In a significant development for ending the conflict in Manipur, organisations representing the Kuki and Meitei communities are likely to meet for the first time in New Delhi on April 5, in order to find an end to the ongoing conflict. </p><p>The meeting has been called by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to discuss the issues for finding a solution.</p><p>On Tuesday, Kuki organisations met at Kangpokpi in Manipur, in which it decided to send a delegation for the meeting on April 5, to which Meitei organisations have also been invited. </p>.Biren Singh drags P A Sangma's stand to corner Conrad over Manipur situation.<p>A similar attempt by the MHA last year did not materialise after the Kuki organisations refused to meet the Meitei leaders. The fresh invitation came days after MHA advisor for the Northeast, AK Mishra, met the Meitei and the Kuki leaders separately in Manipur last month, sources told DH. </p><p>The Kuki Zo Council, an apex body of the Kuki-Zo organisations, on Tuesday decided to present its demands in the meeting. Its demands include opposition to the Centre's move for "free movement" of the Meiteis through the Kuki dominated areas and to announce a "ceasefire" up to one year to facilitate talks regarding their demand for a "separate administration".</p><p>Meitei organisations, however, was yet to make their decision regarding the meeting public. Sources said the Meitei groups are likely to press for a NRC to detect the "illegal Chin-Kuki migrants" and abrogation of the Suspension of Operations agreements with the Kuki insurgent groups.</p><p>Manipur has remained on the boil since the conflict involving the Meitei and the Kuki community erupted in May 2023. More than 260 people have died and over 60,000 others have been displaced due to the conflict. President's Rule was imposed on February 13 after the Biren Singh government resigned to pave the way for ending the conflict. </p>
