Modi behaving like political broker: Stalin

Launching an all-around attack against Narendra Modi, DMK President M K Stalin on Thursday accused the Prime Minister of behaving like a “political broker” by breaking the AIADMK after J Jayalalithaa’s death and merging it once the desired results did not yield.

Addressing a massive public rally in Karur in western Tamil Nadu, Stalin also said the Edappadi K Palaniswami government is surviving only because of the support it derives from Modi and the Union Government. Stalin was speaking after formally inducting former AIADMK minister V Senthil Balaji into the DMK fold along with his supporters.

The Opposition Leader, whose party missed the 2016 bus to form a government in Tamil Nadu, has announced his party’s alliance with Congress for the 2019 general elections. On December 16, Stalin also launched a scathing attack on Modi calling him a “sadist” and proposed Rahul Gandhi for Prime Minister.

“What is Modi doing? After the death of Jayalalithaa, he had taken the role of a kangaroo court in Tamil Nadu and split the AIADMK. After a while, he oversaw the merger personally. Why is the prime minister doing the job of a political broker in Tamil Nadu? What is his interest?” Stalin asked.

“If Modi thinks he is a king, Edappadi is even worse. He thinks himself as the god,” Stalin said, tearing into both the AIADMK and BJP.

The DMK has made “mistakes of Modi” as its prime election plank beside attacking the AIADMK government. During his speech, Stalin also said the AIADMK has indirectly admitted that its government was corrupt since there was no legal action against him for calling the cabinet as “corrupt to the core.”

“I expected the CM to file a defamation suit against me for calling his ministry a corrupt cabinet. But no case has so far been filed and this is because the government realises that what Stalin says is right,” he said.
